September 24, 1956The Detroit Tigers won their 100th game of the season today, defeating the Chicago White Sox 8-3. The red hot White Sox came into Briggs Stadium on a 10 game winning streak and out hit the Tigers 12-9, but Detroit put a close game away with a 3 run outburst in the bottom of the 8th. Tiger rookie pitcher Hal Woodeshick got the start for the home team and lasted until the 8th, picking up his 1st MLB win.. AL leading hitter, Harvey Kuenn (.371) went 3 for 4 with 3 RBI for the AL Champion Tigers.
