June 17, 1956New York rookie outfielder Norm Siebern hit for the cycle today as the Yankees defeated the Cleveland Indians 7-5. What a way to start a MLB career! After only 14 AB, young Siebern has achieved one of the toughest accomplishments in baseball for any hitter. He got the hardest part of hitting for a cycle, a triple, in the 1st inning. The homerun he hit in the 7th was his 1st of the season as well as his 1st of his career.

Left fielder Norm Siebern hit for the cycle and had 2 RBI at Municipal Stadium
as the New York Yankees beat the Cleveland Indians 7 to 5.
Siebern had a big day against Cleveland. He tripled in the 1st inning, hit a
single in the 3rd inning, clubbed a two-run home run in the 7th inning and
doubled in the 9th inning. For the game New York out-hit Cleveland 12 to 9.
The win went to Whitey Ford(6-2) who allowed 2 runs in 6 innings. Ford got
help from Tom Morgan who was credited with his 3rd save. Early Wynn(7-3) was
the losing pitcher. He allowed a few too many baserunners giving up 12 hits
and 3 walks in 9 innings.
