Ted Williams slammed 3 homeruns and had 6 RBI and Frank Sullivan tossed a fine
3 hitter as the Boston Red Sox defeated the Cleveland Indians 9 to 3 at
Fenway Park.
Williams was spectacular at the plate. The hometown fans showed their
appreciation with a standing ovation his last time at bat. He smashed a
solo-shot out of the park in the 3rd inning, smashed a two-run homer in the
6th inning and belted a three-run homer in the 7th inning. Boston totaled 9
hits on the afternoon.
Sullivan(7-10) allowed 3 runs on the game. Bob Lemon(9-8) took the loss. With
this win, Boston has a 44-37 record. They have been 7-3 lately. Cleveland
has a record of 47-34 after the loss.
