1956 AL Standings

The 1956 season has reached the dog days of summer and the Detroit Tigers have opened up a double digit lead at the top of the AL. Detroit went 23-9 in July, best in MLB. Their hitting attack has remained at epic proportions. The Tigers are hitting .301 as a team and have scored an incredible 710 runs, over 200 runs more than the next highest team. Detroit has averaged 7.24 runs per game while allowing 4.36. Cleveland, Chicago, and Boston have all played good, solid baseball, but all three will have a tough time trying to catch the juggernaut Detroit team. The 5th place New York Yankees also have a winning record, but the 'real life' League Champions have been a disappointment to their fans and posted a 14-15 record in July.
