1956 NL Standings

August 1, 1956

The calendar turns to August and the Brooklyn Dodgers now lead the NL by a comfortable margin. The Dodgers had their best month of the season in July, going 21-10. The Milwaukee Braves and St. Louis Cardinals both fell off the pace, going 15-16 and 13-14 in July, but still hold 2nd and 3rd place in the NL. The Cincinnati Reds finally got things rolling last month, going 21-12, but their slow start may have sabotaged their title hopes as they find themselves 14 games behind the league leaders.
