1956 AL Game of Note: Clev. at Det.

Frank Larry went the distance and became the first pitcher in MLB to win 20 games this season as the Detroit Tigers defeated the Cleveland Indians 3-1. In a well pitched game by both teams, Larry helped his own cause by driving in the winning run in the bottom of the 6th inning with a two out bases loaded single that scored two runs. Larry improved his record to 20-4 with a 2.88 ERA and recorded his 15th complete game of the season. The 1st place Tigers increased their lead over the 2nd place Indians to 12 games with the victory.
