1956 AL Standings

The Detroit Tigers continue to dominate the AL as the calendar turns to September. Detroit holds a commanding 13.5 game lead over 2nd place Chicago. Detroit went 18-11 in August. The White Sox (20-13) and Boston Red Sox (17-12) were only able to keep pace with the league leaders. Cleveland (12-18) had their worst month of the season and the New York Yankees (15-16) continued their uninspiring play.
Unless something very dramatic occurs, the Detroit Tigers and Brooklyn Dodgers are a lock to begin World Series play on October 3rd.
