WEB GEMS- Bot 1st: Johnny Logan robbed Don Blasingame of a base hit.

Second baseman Danny O'Connell had 4 hits at Sportsman's Park as the Milwaukee
Braves beat the St. Louis Cardinals 8 to 7.

Lou Sleater(1-0) was brilliant in relief and registered the victory. He was
flawless in relief in his 2/3 of an inning. St. Louis threatened in the 9th
but their rally came up short.

Sleater was helped out by Ernie Johnson who recorded his 1st save. Gordon
Jones(0-1) was the losing pitcher. He was hit hard and gave up 10 hits and 7
walks in 7 innings.

Wally Moon hit for the cycle and had 4 RBI but despite his efforts, it wasn't
enough to put St. Louis over the top.
