1956 NL Game of Note: Pit. at N.Y. Gomez throws one-hitter

centerfield maz: 1954 World Champion New York Giants Pitcher ...April 18, 1956

New York Giant pitcher Ruben Gomez pitched a 1-hit complete game shutout today against the Pittsburgh Pirates. The Giants won the game 1-0 on a homer hit by Willie Mays in the 1st inning.

Ruben Gomez allowed only 1 hit resulting in a big goose egg on the scoreboard
for Pittsburgh as the New York Giants defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates by the
