1956 World Series Game 3

October 6, 1956

Game 3 of the 1956 World Series shifted to Briggs Stadium in Detroit, but the result was the same as the first two games. The Brooklyn Dodgers won a close game against the Detroit Tigers 5-4.  Roger Craig held the Tigers to 4 hits while going the distance on the mound for Brooklyn. The big blow in the game came from Gil Hodges, a 3-run homer that put the Dodgers up 5-2 in the 7th. Detroit's Ray Boone hit a 2-run homer in the bottom of the 8th to close the gap to 1 run, 5-4, but Craig sailed through the bottom of the 9th to complete the victory. Brooklyn now holds a commanding 3-0 lead in the Series.
