The Tigers performed way above expectations, finishing 22 games better than their actual record. Coupled with the actual 1956 AL Champion New York Yankees' underperforming by 12 games, the Tigers waltzed to the pennant with ease. Detroit's hitting attack was by far the best in my 1956 MLB replay. They scored runs at an incredible pace and their pitching was good enough to finish with 104 Wins. Chicago, Boston and Cleveland all finished within a few games of their actual records but proved no match for Detroit.
Frank Lary (29 Wins), Al Kaline (.306BA, 32HR, 148RBI), Ray Boone (,335, 31, 124), Charlie Maxwell (.324, 26, 125) and Harvey Kuenn (.377, 12, 96) led Detroit to the pennant. SOM gave the AL MVP award to Frank Lary but I would have given it to Kaline by a small margin. Lary also received the AL Cy Young award. Chicago's Dick Donovan was the only other 20 game winner in the AL and NY's Mickey Mantle led the league in HR with 51. The following is a list of the 1956 Award Winners:

Over in the NL, the Brooklyn Dodgers ran away with the pennant. I was expecting a close pennant race as in 'real life', between the Dodgers, Milwaukee Braves and Cincinnati Reds. While Brooklyn played a few games above their actual record, Milwaukee and Cincinnati played well below expectations. There were 3 20 game winners in the NL: Brooklyn's Don Newcombe (25), Milwaukee's Lew Burdette (20) and Philadelphia's Robin Roberts (20). Newcombe got the NL Cy Young Award and his teammate Duke Snider was NL MVP (.309BA, 42HR, 138RBI). The following list is the 1956 NL Award Winners:
