1956 AL Standings

The red-hot Detroit Tigers lead the AL as the calendar turns to the month of June. Detroit went a league best 22-7 in May, and continue to over-perform when compared to their actual record at this point in the season. The Cleveland Indians went 18-8 last month, mainly due to getting the best pitching in the AL. The Chicago White Sox continue to play good baseball and the New York Yankees look to have turned their season around. After getting off to a slow start, the Yankees went 19-12 in May and are finally above .500. The Boston Red Sox have Ted Williams back from the injured list and look to get into the pennant race.
