1956 NL Game of Note: Brkn. at Cin.

June 8, 1956

Cincinnati's Ted Kluszewski had another big day at the plate, blasting 2 homeruns and driving in 6, leading to an 11-6 Reds victory over the Brooklyn Dodgers. Kluszewski leads the NL with 18 HR and the Cincinnati pulled within 6 games of the league leaders.

Ted Kluszewski knocked 2 homeruns and had 6 RBI at Crosley Field as the
Cincinnati Reds beat the Brooklyn Dodgers by the count of 11 to

Kluszewski was spectacular at the plate.  He lofted a three-run bomb in the
5th inning and lofted a three-run 'big-fly' in the 8th inning.  Cincinnati
finished with 15 hits while Brooklyn ended up with 9.  
 
Johnny Klippstein(6-4) was the winner allowing 5 runs in 6 and 2/3 innings.
Hersh Freeman recorded the save, his 7th.  Sandy Koufax(1-1) was the losing
pitcher.  He served up 3 gopher balls in 4 and 2/3 innings.  
 
Cincinnati now has a record of 24-22.  With the loss, the Brooklyn ballclub's
record is 29-15.
